Yamaha Showcases 2 Electric Motorcycles!

Yamaha officially shows off the form of 2 electric motors, namely the E01 and Neo's. Both appear in versions that are ready for production. Especially for the previous EO1 this motorbike was introduced at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show (TMS) and was also patented in the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) as a right to protect against plagiarism in design and technology.

Yamaha will launch these two bikes at the latest in the next few weeks. Yamaha EO1 and Neo's are described as the manufacturer's expansion strategy from fossil fuel motors to electric vehicles with a focus on dynamic consumers.

"The introduction of the Yamaha electric scooter is a plan to inspire a new generation of customers. We are excited to start this," said Eric de Seynes, President & CEO of Yamaha Motor Europe, quoted from Paultan, Monday (7/3/2022).

Indeed, in the data specifications there is no more complete information to describe. However, Yamaha says that the E01 has an electrical construction equivalent to a 125 cc automatic motorcycle.

In early January, response.jp explained that the Yamaha E01 would first be sold in the European and Japanese markets, then spread to the United States and China. Even the good news is that this electric motorbike has the opportunity to enter the Taiwan, Thailand and Indonesia markets. At that time the information came from the Chief Executive Officer & Representative Director of Yamaha Motor Co. Ltd., Yoshihiro Hidaka.

Yamaha EO1 has similarities with the gasoline engine Maxi scooter that has been commercialized first. The front is slightly sloping, with the placement of two projector lamps under the front shield.

If you look in more detail, it's not wrong if the face of this electric scooter has similarities to the design of the latest Yamaha YZF-R1 superbike. To make it appear more sporty, there is also the use of a large-dimensional windscreen component on it.

Turning to the side, the most visible footrest layout is that there are two choices of rider foot placement styles like the Yamaha NMax. The portion of the seat between the rider and the pillion is also slightly different, the impression of sport is increasingly appearing thanks to the 'trondol' rear view, there is no conventional fender but has been replaced with a mudguard model which also serves as a number plate holder.

Yamaha Neo's

Yamaha Neo's looks more elegant, it has a slim body shape and its performance is claimed to be equivalent to an automatic motor with an internal 50 cc engine. The overall design leads to the entry-level automatic tuning fork that we know in Indonesia.

The fascia is quite interesting, the lamp design uses a double headlamp model which, when viewed more closely, looks like a robot eye. While the stop light at the back uses a minimalist model and has anti-mainstream visuals, look at its thin shape but has a futuristic aura.

Unfortunately, there is no further information regarding power output, torque, battery usage, converter, electric dynamo, and other features embedded in Yamaha Neo's, including the Yamaha E01.

How's the Yamaha E-Vino in Indonesia?

Ever remember the Yamaha E-Vino which was introduced a few years ago by PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing? Until now there has been no sign of them officially selling it to the public.

It's been almost 5 years since its introduction, Yamaha says it still takes time to actually release it to the domestic market. Although various legal umbrellas and incentives have been issued by the government, the company believes it still needs to study consumers.

"Even though the government has issued (legal umbrellas & incentives) there are still many other consider points. How do we build a charging station, elements of safety tools, and the rules on whether it is called a motorcycle, a bicycle, or an electric vehicle. Indonesia still needs time, " said YIMM's Public Relations Manager, Antonius Widiantor, some time ago.

For your information, this electric motor was developed from a retro 50 cc Vino Molfe scooter with the support of an electric dynamo and a 50 volt Lithium-Ion battery. At that time, Yamaha Indonesia claimed that when the battery was fully charged, he was able to explore up to 30.1 km with an average speed of 30 km per hour. Its relatively close cruising range was circumvented by the manufacturer by embedding one more battery as a backup, if at any time the main battery ran out in the middle of the road.

Furthermore, it was reported that the Yamaha E-Vino was handed over to be studied by 4 of its colleague companies, namely the Bogor Botanical Gardens, The Breeze BSD, PT Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha and Pelita Harapan University.

Honda and Sony Unite to Create Electric Vehicles

The collaboration of global companies in creating competent and environmentally friendly products has been widely seen in recent years. Recently, Sony Group Corporation and Honda Motor Co., Ltd announced a collaboration to create a new era of mobility and mobility service.

The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to emphasize that the cooperation between the two is one part to present future product developments. One of them is electric vehicles and taking commercial steps to provide mobility services in the future.

These global companies have sat down together to achieve a binding agreement on both development and commercial sides to then target forming a new company in 2022. This alliance aims to unify the capabilities of each company. Honda's mobility development capabilities, vehicle body manufacturing technology, and after-sales service management experience developed over the years.

Sony is in the development and application of imaging, sensing, telecommunications, networking and entertainment technologies, to realize a new generation of mobility and services that are highly aligned with users and the environment, and the development of other technologies.

The target is that by 2025, the products from the collaboration between the two companies can be seen in real terms. The new, yet-to-be-named company is also expected to plan, design, develop and sell electric vehicles even though it does not own and operate a manufacturing facility. This task will be assigned to Honda to be responsible for working on the first electric vehicle (EV) model at its vehicle factory. Sony will work on the development of the mobility services platform.

Kenichiro Yoshida, Representative Executive Officer, Chairman, President and CEO of Sony Group said: "This collaboration is in line with Sony's vision to fill the world with emotion through the power of creativity and technology. The hope is that this new company can turn the mobility space into an emotional space.

“Through this alliance with Honda, which has accumulated extensive experience and global achievements in the automotive industry over the years and continues to make revolutionary progress in this area, we intend to build on our vision of making the mobility space an emotional space, and contributing to the evolution mobility centered on safety, entertainment and adaptability," said Yoshida in an official statement.

Toshihiro Mibe, Director, President, Representative Executive Officer and CEO of Honda Motor also said the same thing. Mibe hopes the new company will aim to be at the forefront of innovation, evolution and expansion of mobility worldwide, taking a broad and ambitious approach to creating value that exceeds customer expectations and imaginations.

"We will do this by leveraging Honda's cutting-edge technology and know-how in terms of environment and safety, while aligning the technology assets of the two companies. While Sony and Honda are companies that share a lot of history and culture, our areas of technology expertise are very different. Therefore, I believe this alliance that brings together the strengths of our two companies offers great possibilities for the future of mobility," said Mibe.

Sony in the automotive world is not a new player. The company, which is famous for its entertainment technology, at the 2020 Consumer Electronic Show (CES) showed the Vision-S 01 and 02 concept cars. At that time, Sony had revealed that production of these vehicles would take place in 2022.

The design was done seriously in collaboration with automotive companies such as Magna International, Continental AG, Elektrobit, Benteler and Bosch. This product comes with the latest technology of each company and promises autonomous control as its most advanced service. The difference between the two concept models is that the Vision-S 01 is more towards a sedan with a capacity of four passengers, Vision-S 02 is more towards an SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) with the ability to carry seven passengers.

In terms of dimensions, the Vision-S has a length of 4.9 meters, a width of 1.93 meters and a height of 1.65 meters with a wheelbase of 3.03 meters. The legs use 20-inch rims wrapped in 255/50R20 tires at the front and 275/45 R20 at the rear with a vehicle weight of about 2,480 kilograms. All this data is supported by the use of double wishbone air suspension both at the front and rear.

For driving, the Vision-S 02 uses an all-wheel drive system thanks to the use of two electric motors at the front and rear. Each electric motor produces about 268 hp or 200 kilowatts of power. The maximum speed is claimed to reach 400 km / h.

The security features are also sophisticated. Sony uses 40 sensors in vehicles with the main sensor in the SONY CMOS image sensor to continuously monitor the safety side of the vehicle. Its autonomous features include the presence of highway assist which has the function of maintaining a safety distance from other vehicles, keeping the vehicle on the lane with the name of the lane change decision aid system (LCDAS) feature, and seeing if there is room to overtake other vehicles. The valet parking feature also helps to find parking spaces and perform safe parking maneuvers automatically. In addition, the Vision-S has an in-cabin monitoring feature that monitors the driver's expressions and gestures to take into account the level of concentration and fatigue while driving.

Honda itself also has a target to play in the electric vehicle market as soon as possible. This Japanese-based multinational company is expanding its electric vehicle factories in various countries to be ready to fight in the global electric vehicle market.

"This roadmap builds on Kia's successful 'Plan S' strategy first announced in 2020, and reveals more details on how the company will achieve its vision of becoming a sustainable mobility solutions provider," the company said in its announcement. (7/3/2022).

In the 2 years since the company revealed its Plan S, Kia has developed into the most productive global electric vehicle brand and recorded the highest gross revenue and operating profit in 2021. They are committed to continuing this positive momentum to create further value, both qualitatively and quantitatively from 2022 and beyond.

Kia prioritizes the development of environmentally friendly cars based on pure batteries or BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle), plug-in-hybrid (PHEV) cars, and cars with hybrid technology. The target is to achieve total electric car sales of 1.2 million units and 14 different BEV model lines by 2030.

Later, in addition to launching a passenger electric car, Kia also plans to introduce two battery-based electric vehicles with pickup models. The target is a market with developing countries, of course with price adjustments.

"The company will make the sale of these vehicles the focus of business growth going forward. Kia will expand the proportion of environmentally friendly cars by 17 percent of global sales in 2022 to 52 percent in 2030," Kia said.

Meanwhile, based on information quoted from Carscoops, the 14 electric car lines include the Kia EV6 and EV9 which, if planned, will be launched in 2023. Then there are also a number of electric car models, ranging from hatchbacks, sedans, to SUVs (Sport Utility Vehicles).

Honda Ready to Release a New Model Named Hawk 11, Using the Africa Twin Engine?

Honda announced that it is ready to release a new roadster called the Hawk 11 on March 19, at the 2022 Osaka Motorcycle Show. The teaser video that has been spread shows a brand-new unit that looks like a cafe racer with a half fairing. The model is allegedly a realization of the Honda CB4 Interceptor concept motorbike that was shown in 2019.

Honda Ready to Release a New Model Named Hawk 11, Using the Africa Twin Engine?

A new teaser video published on the micro-site of the Honda Osaka Show shows a close-up of the nose section of the Hawk 11. It shows the fairing, bottom mirrors and near-perfect circular headlights, similar to the Honda CB4 Interceptor concept. The images are dark and mysterious, usually done to attract consumers. The manufacturer also deliberately kept all the specification information before launch.

If the CB4 style theme is continued further back, we can expect to see a fairing that blends into the fuel tank, blends into the seat unit at the rear, with the mechanical parts all exposed at the bottom. Like the CB1000R and CB650R, this is a look that harks back to the past without degrading any particular model.

According to Honda, the Hawk 11 was developed with the concept of a big motorcycle that provides new value and life that can satisfy customers, especially experienced riders. The body package is designed with minimalism, creating a light ride combined with elegant styling to express the depth of taste as a motorcycle that is not bound by mere specifications.

Hawk 11

When the Interceptor first appeared, it used the engine base of the Honda CB1000R. It has a four-cylinder engine that comes from the old Fireblade unit and a single-sided swingarm. But now the Hawk 11 seems to have a similar look but uses a completely different foundation. Seems to borrow from the Africa Twin. If it is realized, the steps are similar to the Rebel 1100 and NT1100.

The engine is expected to be mostly the same. 1,084cc, 4 stroke, SOHC parallel twin-cylinder configuration, liquid-cooled. It claims to produce a maximum power of 101 hp at 7,500 rpm and a peak torque of 105 Nm at 6,000 rpm. But most likely use a lighter engine, but can provide stronger acceleration, with better aerodynamics for an increase in top speed. If the Hawk 11 uses that engine, it is expected to be available with Honda's Dual Clutch Transmission.

An interesting note about the "Hawk 11" (or "Hawk Eleven") name is that it doesn't share the same "1100" nomenclature as other models that use the Africa Twin engine. In addition, the number 11 also has a possible callback to the 1977 Honda CB400T, also known as the Hawk II (Roman numeral for two). While the Hawk II lacks a fairing, it may give an idea of where Honda's designers got their inspiration for some of the styling elements.

The Honda Hawk 11 is also rumored to be filling the void in the 1100 series family following the discontinued CB1100, with the Final Edition model currently being marketed in Japan.

The PCX 160 is bigger, which is 16 PS at 8,000 rpm and 14.7 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm.

The difference in the data in the specification sheet occurs because the test is different from the PCX 160. His party tested the Vario 160 engine using Ron 88 fuel because this is the fuel that is mostly used by Vario 160 users in various regions in Indonesia. While the PCX 160 test uses RON 90 BBM.

5. Use eSAF (enhanced Smart Architecture Frame) technology

The All New Vario 160 gets improvements in the frame, now carrying eSAF technology (enhanced smart architecture frame). The claim can make him more agile and easy to ride.

But the use of this frame model does not have a positive impact on other sectors. Whereas the application of eSAF on its two smaller siblings (Scoopy and Genio) can reduce total weight and is able to provide more storage space. The weight of the All New vario 160 actually increases. Previously 112 kg is now 117 kg (ABS). The volume of fuel and luggage space under the seat is also still the same as the previous model, respectively 5.5 liters and 18 liters.

Hyundai plans to bring the Ioniq 5 to Indonesia this year. Estimates of the presence of the latest electric car are increasingly being heard with various information on social media. Previously, the Korean manufacturer planned to bring the Ioniq 5 in the first quarter of 2022. The presence of this advanced electric was also seen during a media visit to the Hyundai factory in Cikarang some time ago.

Hyundai Ioniq 5

we tried to find information about the planned presence of the Ioniq 5 at several Hyundai salespeople in Jabodetabek. A number of salespeople have already opened orders for the futuristic car. "The pivot has been opened because many have asked. The booking fee is also quite cheap, only Rp. 5 million," said one Hyundai salesperson, Friday (4/3/2022).

Another Hyundai salesperson revealed the possibility that this electric car will arrive in late March or early April. It is possible that Ioniq 5 will be present at the automotive exhibition which will also be held at a similar time in the month. Other info, the Ioniq 5 is estimated to be priced at around IDR 700 million. This price is close to Hyundai's EV products that have been marketed, namely the Ioniq EV and Kona Electric.

In addition, based on information from the DKI Jakarta BPD website regarding information on the 2022 NJKB, Ioniq 5 has been registered with two variants. The first is the 2WD version which has an NJKB value of Rp.450 million and the AWD with an NJKB amount of Rp.473 million. The amount of the NJKB is still smaller than the Kona 2.0 EV 4x2 AT which is listed at IDR 488 million
