The Honda Vario 160 has just made its world debut in Indonesia, PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) released the scooter on Wednesday, February 2, 2021.
In terms of engine construction, the new Vario carries the same runway as the PCX 160 but is presented with different power and torque output settings.

After successfully selling the Honda PCX 160 and then continuing to launch the Vario 160, it is reported that Honda is also preparing to present the latest ADV with a similar engine equipped with 4-valve. Please note, when the 150 cc engine (PCX and Vario) all three carry the same engine construction.

From the Greatbiker report, it is reported that the all new Honda ADV 160 will be introduced in 2022 or in 2023. The age of the Honda ADV 150 itself in the Indonesian market has been almost 3 years. At that time, this adventurous scooter was the world premiere on the 2019 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) floor.

If so, the ADV will be paired with machines similar to the latest PCX and Vario which are 156.9 cc (rounded to 160 cc) with eSP + (Enhanced Smart Power +) technology. The engine already uses four valves, in contrast to the current engine which only has two valves.
The new 1-cylinder unit has a bore x stroke of 60.0 x 55.5 mm with a compression ratio of 12:1. Predictably, the output will be similar to the PCX-Vario 160 with a maximum power of 15.8 horsepower at 8500 rpm and peak torque of 15 Nm at 6500 rpm.

Interestingly, the Marketing Director of PT AHM, Thomas Wijaya, said that his party did not rule out the possibility of launching the Honda ADV 160 in Indonesia. However, so far, they are still in the phase of studying the interests and needs of consumers in the domestic market.
"We will study the ADV (160 cc engine) first, what future consumer needs will be," he said at the launch of the Vario 160 in the Cikarang area, West Java, recently. At this time, continued Thomas, AHM will continue to focus on marketing 2 automatic products with 160 cc engines, namely Vario and PCX. As for new products in the same class, he promised to inform them as soon as there were developments.
"For now, we focus on the PCX and Vario 160," he added. To note, in addition to the engine becoming more powerful and efficient, we also believe that the Honda ADV 160 will get changes in terms of features and of course appearance. A similar formula has happened on the PCX-Vario 160.
The Honda ADV with a 160 cc engine could be equipped with a big motor feature (MOGE) on PCX, namely HSTC (Honda Selectable Torque Control). In fact, this device is an active safety feature of traction control which will keep the rear tire spinning so that there is no slip (freewheel).
